Hello Yvette:

Betrayal feels like a knife to the heart. The person you trusted broke something sacred. The friend you supported when they needed help emotionally turned against you. Now you feel vulnerable, so you build walls to protect yourself from that pain.

Forgiveness is not always easy. Personal pain runs deep. The sense of injustice burns. Broken trust haunts you.

Let me raise my hand with you. Betrayal is possibly the hardest wound to heal, especially when you trusted and supported that person completely.

But why is forgiveness vital? How can you walk through this pain with God's help?

God offers a promise of hope and healing to carry you through betrayal. Scripture reminds us: "and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors" (Matthew 6:12, ESV). For those who believe in God, this is not optional: "but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:15, ESV).

When you cannot move past betrayal, it wears on you constantly. Peace and joy remain out of reach. But when you release this hurt, the weight lifts from your shoulders.

You know you've truly forgiven when the mental replay stops, when thoughts of revenge fade, and when rage dissolves.

What freedom awaits you on the other side of forgiveness?
