Hello Yvette:

You have carried this hurt long enough. The weight crushes you. The memory replays endlessly. You wonder if forgiveness is even possible. Today, let me show you a path forward that starts with one honest step.

There are practical ways you and I can process forgiveness. Let us be honest with ourselves by considering both the other person and ourselves. Then we should be honest with God.

When we acknowledge the truth, we can go before God and name the offense clearly. After that, you can forgive the other person by releasing them from your heart. Pray for them, even when it feels impossible. Remember this scripture: "But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44, ESV).

Forgiveness is not easy. But as Easter approaches, remember Jesus went to the cross to bear our sins, shame, and unforgiveness: "As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103:12, ESV).

Forgiveness is possible, necessary, and worth it in the end.

If you find you are not ready to forgive right now, that is okay. You can go to God and pray that He will carry this burden for you and help you move toward forgiveness. You do not have to be alone because He walks alongside you.

What honest step could you take today toward the freedom you desire?
