Dear Yvette,
Someone broke your trust. They spoke ill of you behind your back. They deceived you. They did not support you when you needed them most. Now you cannot trust anyone. You are alone with your pain. But what if there is One who has never broken a promise?
Trust, according to Merriam-Webster, is "assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something." It means confidence, dependence, and belief.
We find it difficult to trust another person sometimes. An individual may break our confidence, speak negatively about us, or deceive us without support. That broken trust leaves us wounded.
Yet instead of relying on ourselves to resolve this trust issue, we can find peace and solace in depending on the Lord. He hears your prayers. He sees your hurt. He knows what you feel about yourself.
If He can do all this, how can we not trust in Him?
These trials teach us. We learn to trust again through our faithfulness to God. He carries us through whatever pain, sorrow, or hurt we experience because we remain faithful to Him. Understanding this mutual faithfulness leads to forgiveness too.
Meditate on this verse: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5, ESV).
How can you discover who God is in your life today?
